In the summer of 2018, I traveled to Rome and Venice to gather inspiration and create a series of travel sketches. Both cities offered an endless source of imagery — from ancient architecture and classical sculptures to the quiet rhythm of daily life in Italian piazzas.

In Rome, I spent hours sitting in parks and public squares, sketching what I saw around me. The city’s layers of history — temples, ruins, fountains — gave me new ideas for my printmaking practice. One highlight was the monumental bronze doors of the Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, created by the Polish sculptor Igor Mitoraj. His work has been a lasting influence on me; each time I encounter his sculptures, I discover new forms and meanings that resonate in my own work.
