The Beginning of the First Drawing, The Fall of Phaeton I

Relief print ? Relief printing is family of printmaking techniques like woodcut, linocut or plaster print. Artists use sharp tools (gouges) to carve a drawing into the surface of a block made of wood or other hard materials. The incised parts of the surface are non-printing areas which means that the drawing is in negative. Linocut ? Linocut is a relief print technique. In that process, artists use sharp specialistic tools (gouges or engraving tools) to carve the image into linoleum surface. The incised parts of the surface are non-printing areas which means that the drawing is in negative. Linocut, is also known as lino print or lino printing.
