Mezzotint: – state VI
Mezzotint is an intaglio technique used to achieve smooth tonal ranges. The artist roughens the entire plate with a rocker, creating a surface that prints dark. By burnishing or scraping areas back to smoothness, lighter tones and highlights appear.
